A World Heritage Site

A great section of the Blue Mountains became part of the Greater Blue Mountains Area World Heritage Site on November 29, 2000. It was listed as a World Heritage Site because of its many endemic and rare plants and the presence of some evolutionary relic species in the area. It also represents various eucalypt habitats, including heathland, wet and dry sclerophyll, swamps, grassland, and wetland.

Sites for Bushwalking

You can do a lot of outdoor activities in the Blue Mountains such as bushwalking, trekking, hiking, and even abseiling. Blackheath Walks allow bushwalking in the Grand Canyon-Govetts Leap area. The tracks here are suitable for the fit outdoor lover, as there are a lot of steep climbs and descents.

It traverses through an incline of 52 degrees through a rock tunnel that opens to a spectacular view of thick vegetation. The Scenic Railway operates daily every 10 minutes and carries 840 passengers every hour.
